Series 5 - Episode 2: Clayton Donaldson

Published on: 18th November, 2020

When Clayton Donaldson arrived at Bootham Crescent on a free transfer from Hull City few could have predicted the impact the striker would make. Not just notching an impressive 44 goals in 93 games, Clayton emerged as a real fan favourite with his raw pace and power giving optimism to supporters after two painful seasons. His partnership with Andy Bishop was the most lethal outside the football league and even when Bishop left in 2006 Donaldson stepped up to fill the void and contributed massively to York City getting into the playoffs. By this point he had already signed a pre contract agreement with Hibs but despite the eventual playoff defeat and protracted exit from the club Clayton remains popular amongst fans and this is Clayton's honest reflection on all of those key events during his time at the club. This interview was conducted by Dan Tait, edited and produced by James Charters. If you enjoy the episode please consider donating to justgiving.com/yorkhospitalradio.
